You've been given an evening under the stars. The Wild Sky Dome is a guided meditation under the night sky at Wild Hideaways, in the Mealagh Valley in West Cork. Wild Hideaways is a DarkSky Approved Lodging, the first in Europe, so the sky here, once it's gone dark, is a real one, the kind most of us rarely get to see any more.
You settle into the dome with beanbags and blankets, and a 40-minute guided meditation carries you through the sky above the valley and what it holds through the seasons. There's a telescope for afterwards, and the dome is yours for the full ninety minutes, so there's no rush to leave. Your experience also includes a walk to the Kealkill stone circle nearby, raised in the Bronze Age by people who lived by these same stars.
It's a quiet, unhurried evening. A chance to switch off and remember how big the sky is.
